1. | OFFICERS REPORTS | Vice President: Will reported that it had been difficult for him to be heard. But it is okay now. Treasurer’s Report: Susan Walker read the financial report for the period ending April 2026. The report was voted on and accepted unanimously. Secretary Report: Susan Walker, Minutes voted upon and accepted unanimously. Treasure report voted upon and accepted unanimously. |
2. | OLD BUSINESS | Repeater Report: Steve Werner mentioned that the “440 Machine” has some error messages but it could be an internet program problem. |
3. | NEW BUSINESS | Net Report: Weekly net lineup was reviewed. Net Controls: 1st Darryl Wagoner; 2nd Susan Walker; 3rd Steve Werner; 4th Van Allen; 5th Darryl Wagoner Net Controllers, please publicize that BCRO meetings are virtual via the BCRO website.
FREE Testing: Testing continues on the 3rd Saturday of each month. The upcoming test will be held at the Bentonville Public Library at 10:00 AM. The FCC will charge a $35.00 fee for filing your application. This will be for a 10 year license. Contact Darryl Waggoner. Email: darryl@wagoner.me
ARRL FIELD DAY 2026: 2026 Field Day takes place June 27 – 28 and will bring together more than 30,000 amateur radio operators for one of the most popular on-the-air events in the US and Canada. This year’s Field Day theme is “Amateur Radio: A National Resource.” Field Day is open to all amateurs in the areas covered by the ARRL/RAC Field Organizations and countries within IARU Region 2 (North and South America). DX stations residing in other regions may be contacted for credit, but are not eligible to submit entries. Each claimed contact must include contemporaneous direct initiation by the operator on both sides of the contact. Initiation of a contact may occur either locally or remotely. PRESENTATION BY WILL ROGERS: The Making Of The BCRO Narrow Cast News.
K5WLR, Will Rogers, puts in the “HOURS” of work each week for the BCRO Narrow Cast. He starts with the Adobe Audition computer program. He has used this program for about two decades. Next, he downloads the ARRL audio news; then he “Cuts and Pastes” particular news pieces into the soundtrack he is making for us. Station identifications are inserted, and the times for the repeater to reset. Volumes were matched between stories. All in all, with experience and proper computer programs, Will has been able to go from 20 hours a week to 3 to 5 hours a week in making the BCRO Narrow Cast news.
