         BCRO  SEPTEMBER 2023 Meeting

Date :  SEPTEMBER   12th , 2023

Time: 7pm – 8:45 pm

Purpose:   Monthly meeting:  group meeting & continued planning for activities

Invited:     members and guests:    total attending:   11  in person at rogers public library and   4   on-line

Host:  Benton County Radio Operators

OFFICERS REPORTS

Treasurer Report:  Randy Estess treasure report accepted.  Randy will be interim treasure.  Voting will occur in December. 

Secretary Report:   Accepted

OLD BUSINESS

Repeater Report:  The Centerton location had been struck by lightning was temporarily out of service.  Steve Werner and multiple other collaborated and made repairs.  A new air conditioner is ready to install.  A Controller is ready to install.

August Board meeting, officers considered inventorying BCRO equipment then seeking out insurance.  Subject still needs to be brought forward at a meeting for discussion and voting. Due to technical difficulties, a discussion of this has not occurred.

BUSINESS

Net report:   Net line up was reviewed.  Net Controls: 1.  Van Allen; 2.  Susan Walker; 3.  Steve Werner; 4. Pending; 5.  Pending.  A replacement net controller is being sought for the 4th and 5th Thursday of the month.

A request has been made for a 5th Thursday Net controller.

 

Testing:   Continues the 3rd Saturdays of the month at Cross Church in Springdale.  Preregister is made through Darryl Wagoner.  Email:  darryl@waggoner.me

A request has been made for VE’s.

 

Website:  President Paul Blomgren will be managing the website for the time being.  

A request has been made for a new Webmaster.

 

NWA Emergency Preparedness Fair:   No Preparedness fair this year.

 

Emergency Operations Center:  NWA EmmComm is not a club, however, there are classes or courses about emergency communication management which may be of interest to BCRO.   EOC is only for those qualified and badged with Benton County also meets 3rd sat 2pm.  Address: 215 E. Center Ave, Bentonville, AR, 72712.  Phone: 479-271-1004.   

Window Display:  Display at Rogers Library is coming in October.  It is to draw the public interest to Amateur Radio.  Live demonstrations will allow the public to witness and possibly have “hands-on” experience with radio.   Interesting equipment is requested for the display. EVENT:  “Education Programs” continued with  Steve Werner.

Topic:  Crimping and Connections

Consisted of a review of crimpers and connections, the pro’s and con’s of each, necessary equipment needed, ease and difficulties of various types, costs and compression varieties. Open discussion, Question/Answer time, a great event with many more topics in the future.

 

 

 

Unfortunately there were difficulties with the “connections” for the virtual or on-line members.  This is hoped to be rectified for next meeting.  Thank you for everyone’s’ patience. 

 

10-10-23 meeting will be at 7pm also in the Rogers Public Library Community Room.
